So now it's my turn to seek advice from all you nail-polishers out there. Here goes...
I'm going to the Barrister's Ball this Friday night. In case you don't know, Barrister's Ball is an event done at the end of the academic year in almost all the law schools in the US. It's like a prom but for law school and much nicer. It's also a formal event. Translation: No funky nails.
So what should I do to my nails? A french? A french with a twist? A konad french? Color? HELP!
And in case it helps the inspiration, below is my dress. Please forgive the horrible picture. This was me trying it on at the dress place before alterations were made. And I took it on my phone so it's not the best quality. And yes, I cropped myself out. I looked horrible that day. LOL! The dress is bronze. (Hope you guys like it!)
Please help me!

A french mani with a thin sweep of chocolate to match your gown :)
I wore hot pink nails to match my hot pink dress when I went to my fiance's Barrister Ball, and when we went the year before that, I wore a teal dress with silver nails. I hope you have a great time - it is a lot of fun!!
a classic french manicure with some gold included, maybe in the form of a line. or another option could be a chocolate color nail with a gold shimmer on top. good luck!
I'm agreeing with the other gals. A french mani with a bronze accent.
french mani with a subtle glitter
Pretty dress. :D
I would do a French, perhaps with a little subtle gold or bronze toned Konad. Or I would just do an all over soft gold or bronze mani.
I'm agreeing, I think a bronze french tip or a bit of bronze konad over a french would be perfection. The dress is lovely!
a calm shimmery color bronze, gold, dark brown hard would be the bomb i dont like french and you dont see many anymore its on straight color no wack ass konads either
I went to a wedding recently and my dress was brown and wore Don't Tell Mama by Lippmann. It looked really good!
Everybody;s suggestions are great. I would only add that you should maybe try and use polishes that are in your tried and true category. Whenever I have a big event, I try to keep my stress level as low possible. No trying out new polishes or techniques the night before or heaven forbid the night of and then disaster!
Have fun and wear something you know you love!
Because your dress has some shine to it, I'm thinking of a bronze-ish holo. Full nail. I can't think of a polish like this off the top of my head, but... my two cents.
I would go for french with a twist, perhaps stamped some ornaments with gold/brown gold over it, but not too much, or the holo brown sounds great too, or holo beige:) but I think you can never go wrong with a french
My immediate thought when I saw this dress was China Glaze Mahoganie (check it out over at Body and Soul http://www.body-soulbeauty.com/2009/10/china-glaze-mahoganie.html
I thought the sparkle in it would go nicely with the sparkle in the dress, although it might be a bit too bling?
Regarding a bronze holo, I would recommend OPI DS Desire if you have or can find it - pics HERE if you haven't seen it before.
Of course, formal doesn't HAVE to mean conservative ... being me, I would probably push it & do like a lower-key water marble LOL =)
HOLY WOW... That dress is AMAZING!!! I think I would wear a Champagne colored polish... neutral, but in the same color family as the gorgeous bronze dress.
I guess I'll be the odd woman out, first thing I thought of was Nubar Chocolate Caramel. I think it would play off the dress really nicely, be conservative with some bling too. There may be a better color for the dress from that line, but I think this is the one, I think it will go with the top of this dress so perfectly.
