SinfulColors Holiday 2011 Collection - Wish

Hey Ladies!

Yes... We're back!

So lets jump right into it.

This is SinfulColors Wish Collection for the 2011 holiday season. The collection includes 5 polishes and 2 nail art shades. All the colors represent the holidays pretty well. This collection is also great as a starter set since it contains basic colors and nothing too crazy.

I struggled with using the nail art shades. The brush on these is long and thin. It's not the products fault. I've just never used these before and didn't create anything I was proud enough to post. LOL! So I think I'll play with them more until I learn how to use them properly. I'll probably do a separate review post for them. But just so you know they are called Flower Girl and Fashionista. Flower Girl is described as "a bronzy gold with tons of sparkle" and Fashionista is described as "a glitter-laden pewter."

On to the polishes... All swatches are with no base coat and no top coat.

Last Chance is described as "an emerald with depth and allure." This is a deep green creme. Very pretty. Reminds me of a christmas tree. 2 coats for full coverage.

This was the hardest color to capture... and this picture does it no justice. Daddy's Girl is "a deep purple with a drizzle of shimmer and glitter." It's a deep purple jelly base with small glitter and shimmer. So I'm having a love hate reaction to this polish. First, it took about 4 to 5 generous coats to get the coverage you see above. But ugh, you can still see my nail tips underneath. I hate that. But the color is so pretty. This picture does not show up purple. I tried so many camera settings and different lighting. But this is one of those purples that photographs blue! *Must do camera research on this issue!* The purple tone, the glitter, and the shimmer go beautiful together. I think this polish would be best layered over a matching purple or a black polish.

My favorite! Midnight Blue is described as "a bold, bright twist on navy." I couldn't agree more. This color is so vibrant and electric. Definitely an attention grabber. It has a little bit of a metallic finish so you have to pay attention to the application to avoid streaky lines. But its nothing troublesome. 2 coats for full coverage and you're good to go!

Out of This World is described as "a perfect silver with swirls of glimmer." This polish is a bit on the sheer side. It took about 3 to 4 generous coats for full coverage. It's a silver packed with silver shimmer/glimmer. Very bright. Reminds me of snow... I wish it snowed in Miami...

Sugar Sugar is described as "a candy cane, red-hot tint." This does remind me of the red stripe in a candy cane. I haven't had a candy cane in years! This is a red packed with red shimmer. Another vibrant and bright color. Perfect for the holidays. 2 coats for full coverage.

So what do you gals think?

Sinful Color's Pretty In Pink Collection 2011 Swatch / Review

Hey Ladies!

I've got a review for you that is just in time for Valentine's Day. I received 3 polishes from Sinful Color's latest collection: Pretty In Pink!

All swatches are without base coat and without top coat. Let's get started...

Scandal - Sinful Colors describes this as a no-nonsense neon, slick and sensational. This polish was a little tricky. It sometimes looks like a creme on the nail. But it looks like a jelly in the bottle. This polish was difficult to photograph... but aren't all neons that way? LOL! It is definitely a little more neon in person than in pictures. But this is as close to color accurate as I could get it to be. Scandal is like a muted pink with a slight orange tone to it. Super pretty! It's sheer like a jelly. I applied 4 coats for full coverage.

Soul Mate - Sinful Colors describes this as a muted peachy pink with a melon twist. I couldn't describe this better myself. It's a super yummy peachy creme color. Peach colors don't usually go well with my skin tone but I really liked this one. Application was great and not chalky like cremes can sometimes be. You can get away with 1 coat if you apply it evenly and a little thick. However, I did 2 coats just to be safe.

Glass Pink - Sinful Colors describes this as a sheer, shiny, shimmer-happy bliss. This is a great addition to the collection. Its a very light pink sheer color with goldish toned shimmer. It's great as a topper (layered over another color) or as a standalone color. Like I said, it is a sheer color. I used 3 generously heavy coats for the coverage you see. The application and formula were great.

Sinful Colors are available at major drug and mass market stores. In my area (Miami, Florida), Sinful Colors can be found at Walgreens. However, I haven't seen this collection at my local stores. Fortunately, Sinful Colors can be ordered at 1-800-448-0763 or online at SinfulColors.com. Plus, you can't beat the $1.99 price!

So what do you gals think?

Happy Polishing!

These polishes were sent to us for review. Please read our disclosure policy (here).

Sparkly Green...

This is me just being festive again. I can't help it during this season. Everything surrounding you is red or green, gold and silver, bright and lit up with lights. Why not?

Anyway, this was unplanned and just grab and go. No thought went into it whatsoever, which probably shows.  I wanted to stamp but Lissi has confiscated our plate binder and held it hostage.  I'm planning an abduction soon.  This is just two coats of Sinful Color's Show me the Way - a nice olive shimmery green; with one coat of China Glaze's Emerald Sparkle (we all know that one).   Simple, but festive.  <3.

Happy Polishing!

Sparkly, Sparkly...

It's kinda like staring into a swimming pool... no? lol

This is two coats of China Glaze Caribbean Blue which is a glass flecked sky blue. I topped it with one coat of Sinful Color's Nail Junkie. A clear teal jelly base with multi-sized hexagon shaped glitter in gold, green and light blue. Did all that make sense?

NOTD - Don't Want To See You Soon...

I hate to say it... but for some reason... I don't want to see you soon.  This is 2 coats of Sinful Colors' "See You Soon." I did this color last Sunday and took it off after just 2 days. I wasn't very happy with it.  It's a black with blue shimmer. The bottle makes it seem like there is more blue than there really is. It seems to lean more towards a dry green. It messes up the black base color. I don't know... It's weird.

Moral of the story: I was disappointed.

Happy Polishing!

NOTD: To "Flakies" Or Not To "Flakies"

... That is the question! And the answer is... TO FLAKIES!

This is the mani I did yesterday!

I have seen a lot of lovely bloggers do this look (black/dark and flakies) and I've been dying to try it out myself. So I finally did. And what better way to celebrate the death of my weekend (due to that horrid paper) than by painting my nails black!

So I used 2 coats of China Glaze's "Liquid Leather" as the base (swatched here). Then I used Sinful Color's "Green Ocean" flakies. I can't tell you how many coats I used because I didn't count. If a nail needed more flakies to look even I'd just keep passing the brush over and over until all the flakies came off the brush and stayed on the nail. I put one coat of Seche Vite but once it dried I noticed that the flakies made the nail feel bumpy. So I put another coat of Seche Vite to even it all out. At this point, it looked gorgeous. But I took it another step further and added a coat of Essie's "Matte About You" topcoat.

The flakies are amazing! Even though the bottle is green, the flakies are more blue than anything else. But there is some green too (especially with the bigger pieces).

Do you gals like it?

NOTD: Purples & Flakies - Difficult to capture!

Hey Addicts!

First, I can't believe the massive jump in followers in just less than 24 hours! It's amazing what a little giveaway can do.

Moving on... Here is the mani I did on Tuesday.

The base color is 2 coats of Sinful Color's "Let's Talk," which is a difficult color to capture (as I said before - swatched here). It's a much more vibrant purple in person. For some reason it looks bluish in all pictures. LOL! Then I put 1 coat of Nfu-Oh's #52. I tried my best to capture the flakies. The pictures don't do it justice. It's hypnotizing in person! And in the sun... OMG!

Hope you gals like it. I'll be back with more soon. =)

Swatches (Zoya & Sinful Colors)

Hello Addicts!

So we managed to get some swatches done yesterday. Sadly, it wasn't really sunny anymore when we did these so we did the best that we could.

Zoya - Zara (2 Coats)
Zoya describes this as a cool toned purple frost with gold shimmer. At first I wasn't a fan of this color... The bottle isn't even mine. I did my friend the favor of picking this up for her since I was getting stuff for myself (Adina & Reece, which will be swatched tomorrow). So I took advantage and swatched it! Now I love it.

Sinful Colors - Let's Talk (2 Coats)
This color is very hard to capture in pictures... It's a deep purple with blue undertones. It ends up looking blue in almost every picture. Regardless, it's such a beautiful color. It really pops in the sunlight!

Enjoy!

Played Hooky and Came up with This...

After hanging out at home, a good lunch at Flanigan's, a few visits to the drugstore (*cough, cough*) and some swatching I decided on this look. I cant get the pic to do the color any justice. It's actually pretty turqoisy aquaish mermaidy. I'm sure a lot of you out there understand E-X-A-C-T-L-Y what I meant by that. This is two coats of China Glaze's Sexy in the City and one of Sinful Color's Nail Junkie. Now I'm going to go watch LOST and be more confused than ever!!! *sigh*
