Hey Ladies!
Today I have a polish for you that I think was a big disappointment... I'm talking about Ya'll Come Back Ya Hear by OPI from the Texas Collection. This is an orange "sorbet." Calling it a sorbet finish is a fancy way of saying its a jelly. The orange is pretty. Don't get me wrong. I don't own many orange polishes because I'm picky about this color. This particular orange is pretty but the formula is horrible. I gave up trying to achieve an opaque finish after 3 heavy coats. And for some reason the tips were even more sheer. Look at the pictures to see what I mean. It looks like tip pull but its not. Those pictures were taken 30 minutes after I painted my nails.
Maybe I'm being harsh. The reason I hate it is because my nails are more on the thin side. So I don't have nice solid white nail tips like everyone else does. Sometimes I'll have spots of solid white and sometimes I don't. So you see this right through the sheer polish and I feel that it looks sooooo ugly. I feel bad... I bought this color because my boyfriend liked it. We were at my local polish supplier store and I told him to pick out a color for me. He picked this one and I liked it. I didn't realize it was one of those "sorbet" colors. *sigh* I wouldn't have gotten it if I had remembered what it was before purchasing it.
I hope everyone else has had a better experience with these sorbet polishes.

For what it's worth . . . I think your nails look awesome! The hot orange is so fiesty. I bought Too Hot Pink To Hold 'Em just a couple of months ago and it's one of only two or three pinks in my collection, and the only one I've ever reached for more than twice. I think it's because the "sorbet" (ahem . . . jelly) finish gives what I consider a boring hue more depth and makes it look more chic. To be honest, I wear my nails very short, so I don't usually grow much white on my tips, so that wasn't a problem for me. When I wore TPTHE on my toes, I started with a coat of a mostly opaque nude color that my mom wears (Mom, why so boring???), and it disguised the strange ridges and lines that I have on several toes where my feet have taken a beating over the years. I don't get what happened with the sheer tips, but maybe a pigmented basecoat would hide that? Still, I actually like that it looks like you were eating an orange popsicle and it dripped all over your nails.
I agree with Emily, maybe an opaque nude base will help? I had a green jelly-esque polish that I liked but when it blended with my natural nail color the result was a gross purple-gray. Adding an opaque nude base coat made all the difference.
I have used Deb Lippmann nude under this and it worked out great. Also I use this one a lot for sandwiches...start with this or a nude - toss on a flakie then end with a coat of this. I adore using all the Sorbets from this TX collection that way.
Came back to say that I went out hunting for YCBNYH yesterday based on your post! I still think it looks awesome on you. I didn't find it yet, but I came home with Houston We Have a Purple to play with until I do.
