Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus...

Hey Ladies!

Back to the untried drawer we go! I felt like using a spring-ish color. So I went with Venus by Zoya. Zoya describes this as a light mid-tone purple with silver shimmer that has faint iridescent tones. The faint iridescent tones are so pretty! You can kinda see it on the top right picture. Its a little sheer so you need 3 coats. Typical perfect Zoya formula and application.

I decided to stamp the scattered square image from Konad's m73 plate using their special polish in what I believe is Wine Red (or Dark Purple). LOL! It's 2 years old and I don't remember which one it is. LOL! I think its Wine Red. Whatever. LOL! I decided to stamp because you could see a little bit of sheerness near the tips of my nails and I wanted to hide that (you can see it in the picture above and on the left).

Happy polishing!

It's very Aquadelic....

Here we have a shade picked out by the boyfriend.... who I see tends to stick to blues if he had his way.  LOL  This is Aquadelic by China Glaze.  This formula applied so well, one good coat would have sufficed, but I did the typical two topped with my topcoat of choice, Seche Vite.  It's been wearing well and I'm on my third day but knowing us nail bloggers, a polish change is in my near future.  The pic was taken in direct sunlight.

I've convinced Lissi to do a comp using China Glaze's For Audrey, Aquadelic and H&M's Bella's Choice.  I'm just curious.  I mean, wouldn't you be?  Stay tuned.

A Dose of Lovely Poison

Hey Ladies!

Today I have a polish for you that I got from an international swap. This is Poison Me Poison You by Catrice. I wish Catrice was sold in the US. I haven't encountered a Catrice polish that I haven't liked yet (and I think I own about 5-7 polishes). Poison Me Poison You is a beautiful vibrant eggplant purple with purple and subtle blue micro shimmer. It's sultry and dark yet vibrant and bright at the same time. When the light hits this color it's electrifying. So pretty. I applied 2 coats. One coat could have been enough but I preferred to be safe and go for 2. Application was perfect. The brush is a little wide and reminds me of the OPI brush. Very comfortable. Maybe its just me but this polish smelled a little stronger like polish than usual. LOL! Weird... I know. Regardless, I recommend Catrice so get your hands on their polish if you can!

I Prefer a Popsicle...

Hey Ladies!

Today I have a polish for you that I think was a big disappointment... I'm talking about Ya'll Come Back Ya Hear by OPI from the Texas Collection. This is an orange "sorbet." Calling it a sorbet finish is a fancy way of saying its a jelly. The orange is pretty. Don't get me wrong. I don't own many orange polishes because I'm picky about this color. This particular orange is pretty but the formula is horrible. I gave up trying to achieve an opaque finish after 3 heavy coats. And for some reason the tips were even more sheer. Look at the pictures to see what I mean. It looks like tip pull but its not. Those pictures were taken 30 minutes after I painted my nails.

Maybe I'm being harsh. The reason I hate it is because my nails are more on the thin side. So I don't have nice solid white nail tips like everyone else does. Sometimes I'll have spots of solid white and sometimes I don't. So you see this right through the sheer polish and I feel that it looks sooooo ugly. I feel bad... I bought this color because my boyfriend liked it. We were at my local polish supplier store and I told him to pick out a color for me. He picked this one and I liked it. I didn't realize it was one of those "sorbet" colors. *sigh* I wouldn't have gotten it if I had remembered what it was before purchasing it.

I hope everyone else has had a better experience with these sorbet polishes.

The Full Monty!

Here you have two coats of The Full Monty by Butter London.  I gotta tell you, I love wearing gold, but not usually on my nails.  This wasn't bad at all though.  It's a metallic and on the warm side.  Not brassy or very yellow.  Hard to capture on camera but very nice to look at in the sun.  Formula was great and I seriously want to look into acquiring other Butter London shades.  (Gotta hit up my local Ulta.)

...Seeing Spots...

Here's a mani I recently wore when my boyfriend and I went to Billetproof in Ocala, Florida.  Billetproof is a traditional and custom hot rod gathering.  It's a great day spent looking at great cars.

Alas, I digress...back to the nails.  This is two coats of Girl Friday by Misa.  A beautiful red with even brighter red microshimmer.  Absolutely gorgeous and of course, like any Misa, wonderful application.  I stamped the leopard spots from image plate BM 221 using Konad's special polish in Black and then highlighted a few of them using their White.  Topped it all off with a coat of Seche Vite and done.  What do you gals think?

BTW, dont know if any of you are into metal art work or have men in your lives into it themselves, but my boyfriend is uber-talented and totally worth me dropping his name.  You can check out some of his art here.  (shameless of me, I know.)

Misa, It's Always Been You!

Hey Ladies! Sorry for the lack of posts this week. My boyfriend left Monday night and I immediately jumped into studying for the ethics portion of the bar exam that I'll be taking tomorrow morning. So with that said, this post is going to be quick and to the point because I have more studying to do. This is It's You! by Misa. This is a deep dark gray (almost black, but not quite) with green and pink/purple duochrome shimmer. It's a weird duochrome though. The color doesn't shift in the same way as other duochromes. I think different lighting brings out the two shimmer colors. It was difficult to capture on camera. If you enlarge the picture you can see the pink/purple on the left picture and the green on the 2 pictures to the right. Two coats for perfect coverage. Formula was excellent (as are all Misa polishes). I've even had this one on for 4 days now because I haven't had time to change my polish.

Hope you all like it! Wish me luck on my exam!

Gossip Column Flake

Here we have two coats of Color Club's Gossip Column (Spring 2010 Rebel Debutante collection) followed by one layer of Zoya's recent flaky release, Chloe.  Gossip Column, while it looks pretty teal, isn't a true teal.  It's more on the blue side than green, but gorgeous nonetheless.  Both had great application and I cant stop staring at the Flake.  Depending on the angle it looks either goldish, orangy, green... sooooooo pretty.  What do you gals think?

I'm Hooked!

(I know Lissi has been keeping you guys greatly entertained while I was on nail breakage/grow back hiatus.... *grins*  I got lazy with my Nailtiques 2 application and sure enough, my nails started peeling and breaking again... Needless to say, I now carry my Nailtiques 2 a/k/a liquid gold in my purse!!!!)

Today I bring you Sweet Hook by China Glaze.  Yet another purple for my stash... purples being my favorite.  This was totally opaque in two coats.  Great formula, as usual.  Typical Spring shade - very pastel, makes me think of bunnies and candy and reminds me that Easter is right around the corner already.  *sigh*

Sew Psyched for Roses!

Hey ladies! Today I have another long overdue beauty that has lived in my untried drawer for far too long. It was time it was used and graduated to my "green" drawer. LOL! This is Sew Psyched by Essie. So pretty! I got this in a little box set that came with 3 other colors from this collection. The small bottles are cute but now I wish I had a big bottle of this color because it's so amazing! Essie describes this as a cashmere soft sage pewter. I agree with the sage description and would only add that it has subtle silver micro-shimmer. 2 coats for full coverage.

I'm such a cornball. I told my boyfriend I was going to stamp flowers because I get "sew psyched" when he gives me flowers! LOL! *insert knee slap here* So I went with the full nail rose design on m65 by Konad. I stamped using Millennium by China Glaze (a silver). Only downside, I think stamping with silver killed the silver micro-shimmer. Maybe I'm crazy but now I don't see it! *stares at nails* Oh well! Still pretty!

On another note: 5 days 'til my 27th birthday!!! =) I'm so excited. I got myself the Pandora charm bracelet as a birthday gift. But I'm not wearing it until Sunday. Especially since I didn't buy any charms. My mom got me some charms but she won't let me have them until the day of my birthday. No point in wearing a charmless charm bracelet. LOL!

Now I just need to figure out how to paint my nails for that day. Any suggestions?

Yummy Chocolate Pudding!

Hey Ladies! 6 days 'til my birthday! I can't wait!

So back to my untried drawer I go... This polish has been long overdue. I've owned it for at least a year and a half now and hadn't worn it yet. *sigh* This is Mink Muffs by Essie. Essie describes this as a smoky plush taupe. I'd describe this as milk chocolate pudding. You know those pudding packs that have a layer of chocolate, a layer of vanilla, and another layer of chocolate? Well, the color you get when you mix the 3 layers together (as I always do) is what this color is to me! LOL! Now I'm hungry for pudding. The bottle is a little deceiving... The polish dries darker than you'd think based on the bottle. But it's still super pretty! 2 coats for full coverage (but you can almost get away with just 1).

I went ahead and stamped some leopard spots using BM-221 by Bundle Monster. I barely own any gold polishes because gold and I don't usually go well together. But I reconnected with this beauty in my stash: Butterscotch Cookie by FingerPaints. This is a beautiful gold with gold micro shimmer. Perfect for stamping if you want a touch of gold but don't want it to be overbearing! Perfect for me.

Hope you gals like it!

Let's Get Naked!

Hey Ladies! So I had a friend's babyshower this weekend and I decided to paint my nails accordingly. It's a girl... so of course I'd go with pink. This is Naked by China Glaze. Another polish from my untried drawer... And I think it belongs to Mari. LOL! Naked is a simple beauty. A bubblegum pink with small silver shimmer. A polish doesn't have to be overly complicated to be pretty. This polish needs about 2-3 coats for full coverage. I noticed some VNL under the light with just 2 coats so I went for a 3rd. No complaints about the formula or application. I was going to stamp but I felt like none of the images on my plates were baby related. So I left it simple.

Hope you gals like it!

On another note: 9 days 'til my 27th birthday! I can't wait. I wanted to get myself a little polish gift (since I've been so good with my ban) but I can't find what I want. So I'm calling out to you all for help! HELP ME! Anyone know where I can find OPI DS Glamour? I've been wanting this color for far too long now! I am obsessed with blue and that polish is like nothing I've ever seen before! It's time to track this beauty down (because I refuse to turn to eBay). I was lucky enough once that a follower was able to find Merry Midnight for me and we were able to do a swap. I'm hoping I can get lucky again. So please, if anyone can get their hands on OPI DS Glamour email me! We can arrange something. You have no idea how appreciative I'd be! Thanks in advance! =)
