It's You!

Today I have another Misa for you.  I just love their polishes, and this is no exception.  This is a lovely charcoal jelly with lots of green microshimmer.  At certain angles it has a pink flash (duochrome?)  I added a coat of Sally Hansen's Hidden Treasure to it the next day just for effect (bottom left pic).  And who comes up with these names?  Really?  Seriously.  *scratching head*  "It's You".  It's you?  It's who?  This is Misa's It's You!

Misa's Wishes Collection - Spring 2011

When You Wish Upon a Star…You Get the Ethereal Shades in Misa Cosmetics’ Wishes Collection

January 2011 – Philadelphia, PA. From Harry Potter to vampire drama, no one can resist a little fantasy in life, an escape from the everyday. Usually, going from the doldrums of reality to fantastical imaginings on cloud nine takes a little effort, but Misa Cosmetics makes the flight exceptionally easier with the Wishes Collection, six pie-in-the-sky hues that evoke otherworldly beauty with delicate shimmer and alluring iridescence. Thanks to these gorgeous shades—all satin matte with sparkling effect finishes—you’ll be ready to believe in magic again!

Spring 2011: Wishes Collection

Never Say Never: All you have to do is believe—in this frosted ice-princess silvery white, that is—and your nails will transform as you never thought possible. Never say never; just enjoy the cool effect of painting your nails the color of falling snow in moonlight.

Pixie Princess: Fairies are known for their playful, mischievous demeanors, and you won’t find a shade more naughty-but-nice than this soft beige with the subtlest sheen of glitter. It’s no folklore—this delicate hue instantly gets your nails ready to soar above the earth.

Touch the Rainbow: Like a sky after a rainstorm, this baby blue suggests a sense of peace, tranquility and calm. And, just as a rainbow shows off its spectrum of colors, this shade offers an ever-changing opalescent sheen that takes nails to unbelievable heights. Forget the pot of gold; grab this lacquer instead.

Fountain of Youth: We’d all love the ability to renounce the effects of aging, but this shimmering pastel will never grow old on your nails. With a hint of the sheerest springtime green, this polish makes any look brand-new again. Drink in the color and indulge in lasting longevity.

Genie in This Bottle: Do you dream of genies? Once you unleash the fairytale wish-granter from his magic lamp, you’ll never experience life in the same way again. But as you contemplate your three wishes, you might want to make one of them a request for this glittering lilac—it’s one wish that will never backfire!

Whimsical Wish: Blow out the candles, wish upon a star or toss a penny in the fountain. Whatever your method of securing your greatest desires, ensure that your nails are eminently wish-worthy with this pearl shade shot through with pink iridescent undertones.

Not sure if you can see from the picture, these colors have a satin matte with a twist of sparkles finish.

What do you gals think? I like it! Seems perfect for Spring. And I've never encountered a Misa polish that disappoints. You can go to their website for more information (here).

I have fallen in love... with Crystal!

Hey Ladies!

How is everyone? I couldn't be happier (in the polishing world). I got a totally unexpected package today! I saw "Art of Beauty" on the box but my mind never fully registered that it was a box from Zoya. I opened it and... SURPRISE! Zoya sent me the Intimate Collection for review! THANK YOU ZOYA! I tried to swatch them last night but it was my turn to cook at home and I didn't have the time to swatch them all. Plus I rather not rush it and end up posting crappy pictures. So you'll be seeing a Zoya polish today but not from the Intimate Collection. However, I will be posting those first thing Monday morning so be sure to check back!

Today I have Zoya's Crystal from the Flame Collection. I fell IN LOVE with this polish when I saw it on Lacquerized's blog (here). This color is so gorgeous and so unique! I had never seen anything like this before. Zoya describes Crystal as a shiny blue metallic foil with sparks of brilliant yellow gold (here). This blue color is so icy! It's a dream! The gold glitter (or are they flecks?) are difference sizes. The best part is that the finish is NOT like the typical glitter packed polish... a lumpy textured finish. The finish with Crystal is nice and smooth. That alone made me happy because I hate having to put 2 coats of topcoat on a glitter polish just to fill it in and end up with a smooth finish. The formula is great. I used 3 coats for full coverage just to be safe.

I don't know what else I can say about this polish except: It's gorgeous! I really really really love it! I think this is a polish that should be in everyone's stash regardless of whether you own 3 bottles or 300 bottles!

Anyone else share my feelings on this one?

Happy Polishing!

Just sharing my joy....

You guys all know my dilemma with soft, peeling nails. I even went a few months leaving all the blogging to Lissi because I was trying to grow them out after some extreme breakage and peeling. Fast forward....and I gotta tell ya after using Nailtiques Formula 2, I haven't had anymore peeling. I spent a good month and a half applying a coat a day for five days, removing; and then following that plan again consistently. NO PEELS! Now I use it as a base coat, apply my color, top it with SV and then spend the new few days topping it all with Nailtiques until I change my polish again. I plan on never being without this stuff again. I might have to purchase stock in the company.

I don't know if this is helpful or relevant to some of you, but I just had to share the wealth of information and my happiness with our nail blogging community! I'm sure some of you followers and definitely some fellow bloggers out there are blessed with truly gorgeous nails. I have to try a little harder at it.  Anyway, here is some information about Nailtiques and here is where you can find them online. They're available in the U.S., Canada and they ship internationally as well. *love*

Nailtiques come in several formulas. Number 1 is for nails that are naturally healthy. That formula helps maintain the nail's flexibility. Formula 2Plus are for nails that still didn't improve after using Formula 2 for 6 weeks, at minimum. In other words excessive problem nails. Formula 3 is for nails that are naturally hard and dry nails. They also have a kit especially designed for after the removal of artificial nails.

I used Formula 2 and Nailtiques states the following:

Formula 2 - Treatment for Soft, Peeling, Bitten, Weak or Thin Nails.  Nailtiques Nail Protein formulas were created to treat different nail conditions. The salon-tested formulations offer special combination of ingredients, including hydrolyzed keratin and protein in combination with gelatin and calcium to build a healthy nail foundation. The protein formulas bond the nail layers together building a strong nail foundation resistant to peeling, chipping and splitting.

Benefits:
Nails that are soft, peeling, split or just will not grow will see marked improvement when treated with Formula 2. This formula consists of a unique blend of protein and conditioners. The protein immediately acts to help bond nails that are splitting or peeling. Formula 2 also helps to strengthen the nail resulting in long, strong and healthy nails.

Application:
Apply daily. As nails improve, decrease application. Formula 2 may be worn alone or with color polish.

NOTD - I Love Kelly!

Hey Ladies!

Today I have the 2nd polish I got from Zoya's Facebook promotion. I present to you Kelly from the Wonderful collection. I don't know what is up with me and grays lately... I am attracted to them. Just ask Mari! This is an awesome gray that seems to have purple undertones when out in the sun. It only took 2 coats for full coverage. Application was great (as always).

Note: I know this looks darker than it normally does (when compared to pictures of other bloggers) but that is how dark it was on my nails. I didn't alter the image colors. Its color accurate to how it was on my nails at least.

I decided to spice things up after a day. I used french tip stickers (the ones that are slightly curved) and placed them on my nails at an angle (from bottom left to top right). I made sure it was on there properly to prevent any color from bleeding underneath and killing my straight lines. Then I used China Glaze's OMG to fill in the bottom half of the nail. I immediately peeled off the sticker and topped it off with Seche Vite.

Not to toot my own horn... but I've never tried this before and I think I did a pretty good job! =)

Hope you gals like it! Happy Polishing!

Jan 25, 2011

At last.... one off my lemming list.

I've been wanting this color, seems like FOREVER.  It's Misa's Russian Sage.  It's pretty unusual, I feel.  It's a beautiful jelly shade of lilac with pink microshimmer and, even less but certainly there, blue microshimmer.  It's a dusty lavender that together with both shades of shimmer gives off this vibrant blue flash.  Can't even explain it and capturing it on film is near impossible.  Really lovely.  This is two coats.  The pic on the top right is pretty close to color accurate, but still, no cigar.  Bottom right is in direct sunlight hoping to catch some of the blue microshimmer.

Happy Polishing!

Essie's French Affair (Spring 2011) Swatches/Review

Hey Ladies!

I have a funny story for you gals. I didn't work on Friday since I was supposed to do something for school... but that didn't happen. So I was home all day and left only briefly to grab some lunch. I was on my way back home and passed a Fedex truck as I was turning onto my block. I pull into my driveway and immediately see a "Sorry We Missed You" notice on my front door. I thought "Oh boy I have a package... BUT ITS ON THE TRUCK!" I pulled back out of my driveway like a bat out of hell. I chased the Fedex truck down, honking like crazy, and stopped him just before he left the gated community I live in. I pull up next to him and I tell him that he just left a note on my door. He was so nice! I apologized for chasing him down like some freak but he said I did him a favor by not making him have to stop at my house again the next day. One less stop made his job easier. So I run back home with my package and I'm excited because I have no idea whats in it. I open it and guess what I find... Come on! Guess! I received 2 polishes from Essie's Spring 2011 French Affair Collection! How exciting!

So, I am happy to present Coat Azure and French Affair (both were swatched without base coat and without topcoat):

Coat Azure is gorgeous! Essie describes this color as a flirty, shimmery Parisian blue. They weren't kidding! This is a beautiful blue with fine silver and blue shimmer. Application for this color was a dream. Full coverage with 2 coats.

French Affair is perfect for the spring. Essie describes this color as an innocent pink. I describe it as a pastel pink creme. The end result is a beautiful color... but application for this one was a little tricky. The formula wasn't thick but there was something about it that was a little off. It wasn't as flawless as Coat Azure. I had to do 3 coats to get a full and even coverage. I kept getting bald spots with every brush stroke. However, the results were worth it.

In the end, I think these colors are awesome and totally worth it. The pink is perfect for spring and the blue... well, you guys already know I'm a sucker for blues! Love it! I haven't seen the other colors from this collection but I think that Coat Azure and French Affair are the hits of the collection... but don't quote me on that!

What do you gals think?

Here is the rest of the collection (click to make it larger since you can't see the names too well):

This product was sent to me for review. Please see our disclosure policy (here).

We Are On Facebook - Part 2

Hey!

To those of you that helped us with this silly Facebook situation: Thank you!

We officially have a username/address: Nail Addicts Anonymous

As promised, I wrote down your names and you will receive an extra entry or two in a giveaway we will be having soon.

I'm happy to announce that we finally got a "Like" button!

It now has a happy home on our sidebar. Here is a small version of it:

NOTD: Me Like-a Mikka

Hey Ladies! Today I have the first of my 3 Zoya's from the Facebook promotion. I haven't seen this color much around the blogging world so I'm sharing it today. If at least one of you gals thinks this color is worth having, I've done my job! So I'm proud to present Zoya's Mikka. Mikka is a cool plum purple with an almost metallic finish. You notice the almost metallic aspect of the color when you are applying it but its pretty much gone once its dry. There also seems to be a silver shimmer in the bottle (left picture) that doesn't make it onto the nail. Who cares though because I still love this color! I loved it so much that I wore it for 3 days! (I normally change my polish every other day.) The application was great (just like every other Zoya polish I've used). It took 2 coats to get full coverage. I really think this is a color worth having. LOVE IT!

Zoya Haul & Facebook

Hey Ladies!

I'm happy to say that I got my Zoya haul (from their Facebook promotion). I have been lemming Kelly and Crystal since I first saw them. Mikka is a color that caught my attention months ago and I said: Why not! I'll be posting about Mikka tomorrow. I've been wearing it all week and LOVE IT!

Speaking of Facebook. In case you missed it, please read our Facebook post (here). We need help getting 25 fans so we can add a "Like" button to our blog. We have 10 already. So please help us! Who knows.... Maybe we are having a giveaway really soon and the first 25 fans on Facebook will get an extra entry or two... =)

Note: Thanks to those that have already added us on Facebook! We appreciate it!

So nice, we did it TWICE!

What else am I talking about?  I speak of H&M's Bella's Choice, of course!  I'm sure you guys have all seen this swatched plenty of times... but just for the heck of it, here you are again.  Lissi swatched this last year the second we received the bottle in a swap.  Two coats of amazing creamy turquoise goodness.  The pic of the bottle is as color-accurate as I could get the photo.  *shrugs*  Regardless, heaven to apply and wear.  This shade makes me want Spring to get here in a hurry, no?

Nail Addicts Anonymous on Facebook... Help!

Dear Facebook... Why must you hate me? Why must you be so complicated? Why can't you just do what I want you to do? Is it that difficult? Apparently it is!

So I was finally able to successfully create a Facebook page for Nail Addicts Anonymous. Special thanks to Kellie from Also Known As for helping me figure it out. I appreciate it.  I'm ashamed at the fact that I even had to reach out for help. I'm not "not computer savvy." LOL!

However, Facebook had to one-up me again. They recommend you add a "Like" button to your blog to spread the word about the Facebook page. However, I can't add a "Like" button on the blog yet because I need to create a username for that so that we can have a nice address (such as facebook.com/nailaddictsanonymous). But I can't get the nice address without first having 25 people liking the page (according to Facebook here). Good job Facebook for creating an evil cycle. It's hard to get people on your Facebook page without a "Like" button but you need people in order to get one. *sigh*

So I have no choice but to resort to the following weird request (my apologies in advance): If you guys could be so kind (those of you with a Facebook account that are willing to follow us) please search for "Nail Addicts Anonymous" (we are the only ones) and Like us! I would really appreciate it!

Thanks in advance and happy polishing!

KOTD: Alice Plays Checkers

Hey Ladies! Today I have an addition to my last mani (here). I loved the checkered mani (even though I did it on just my ring fingers) but I wanted to add a little something-something. Nothing too crazy. I didn't want to overdo it. So I decided to go with a simple little heart on m17 (BornPretty plate). The image has 4 hearts but I just used 1 heart (the biggest one on the bottom of the image). I used China Glaze's Millennium for the stamping color and put the heart on the bottom black square.

After I was done I looked at my nails and it reminded me of Alice in Wonderland. I love Disney's Alice in Wonderland and loved Tim Burton's version. I'm weird like that. My nails remind me of Alice and the dress she wore while inside the Red Queen's castle. This dress:

I LOVE this dress. If I could buy it right now I would in a heartbeat. I think it's gorgeous and funky (all at the same time)!

Zoya Jo

How pretty is this shade?  Isn't it?  It's the nicest dusty blue, kinda like a light cornflower, with turquoise microshimmer.  It's just lovely.  And like most Zoya's I own, a great formula that just required two coats.  What do you gals think?

NOTD: Let's Play Checkers!

Hey Ladies!

I am taking a break from stalking my mailman for my Zoya promotion order. =) I can't wait for it to arrive. I ordered Crystal, Kelly, and Mikka. So I painted my nails with some of my untried Zoya's in honor of the great Facebook promotion they just had. Posh is a matte red velvet shimmer. (I just noticed that Zoya no longer has this polish on their website... Has it been discontinued?) Dovima is a matte black shimmer. Both of these dried super quickly. Gotta love matte polishes. Application was amazing. I only needed 1 coat of Posh for full coverage!

The inspiration for this mani came from Chloe's Nails. She does an awesome checkered mani. So I attempted it. I love a cute mani just like any other blogger but man is this complicated. The steps themselves are fairly easy but its very time-consuming. Her blog has a great tutorial but this is basically what you have to do: You have to apply your base color and then topcoat. Wait for it to dry. Take a piece of tape and stick it to your skin to remove some of its stickiness. Then place the tape (one piece going horizontal and one piece going vertical) to create the first square. Make sure the tape is properly adhered to the nail. (You don't want any color getting under the tape.) Apply your color and immediately pull the tape off. Apply top coat and let it dry. Then repeat the steps with tape again to make the second square, apply color, and then top coat.

Its time-consuming. I didn't have the patience to do all 10 fingers. Props to you Chloe's Nails for having the patience to do this. Maybe I just need to keep working with tape so I can get used to it. The tape kept sticking to other fingers... I had some black polish creep under the tape and mess up the square's edges... I was a disaster! LOL!

Until next time. Happy Polishing!

Polish Battle: Bella's Choice vs. For Audrey vs. Flyin' High

Hey! So this is a comparison I did a while back. I had been lemming H&M's "Bella's Choice" for a really long time. I finally got my hands on it after doing an international swap with a fellow blogger. I noticed it was similar to some colors I already owned while I was organizing them in my helmer. So I figured I could try out a comparison and see if "Bella's Choice" was close enough to something that was easily obtainable in the US for those that can't do a swap. So here goes... All swatches are without top coat or base coat.

Flyin' High - A bluish aqua creme.
Bella's Choice - A turquoise creme.
For Audrey - A Tiffany Blue creme.

Applications: All colors are 2 coats. Flyin' High was the only one that was almost opaque in just 1 coat.

Verdict: No dupes. The closest colors were Bella's Choice and For Audrey... but clearly not identical. Bella's Choice is a little more vibrant and bright than For Audrey.

NOTD: A Blogger's Own!

Hey! I'm getting sick of saying: "This is a mani I did a while ago and just never got around to posting the pictures." But unfortunately, that is still the case today. LOL! I still have a few more looks in my photo bank. So this is RBL's "Scrangie." Mari and I had been lemming this one for a long time. Mari ordered it and I snatched it up immediately. In order to do it justice, I'll use Scrangie's description of this color. She describes it as a medium blue based purple with green iridescence and green microshimmer. I think I had to do 3 coats with this one. This is the first RBL I have ever used. I loved it. The price for RBL is the only thing that kills me. I'm a broke law school student. I have to get as much as I can from the little bit of spending money I have. But in my opinion, this color is worth having in your collection no matter what!

Happy polishing!
